ATB FORMS SPORTS LAW PRACTICE GROUP TO BE LED BY MICHAEL PANG

2013-01-29

VAN NUYS, California, January 29, 2013 – Adelson, Testan, Brundo, Novell & Jimenez (ATB), a national law firm focusing on workers’ compensation defense, today announced it has established a Sports Law Practice Group and appointed Michael Pang as the practice group’s managing director.

“Ever since ATB’s establishment in 1996, our attorneys have been continually involved in working with professional sports teams and leagues in the defense of athlete workers’ compensation claims,” said Steven C. Testan, founder and senior managing partner, ATB.  “In recent years, these claims have grown increasingly complex and costly for professional teams and leagues, and ATB has distinguished itself as a preeminent provider of legal services in these situations.”

By formalizing these capabilities into a dedicated practice group ATB brings together more than a dozen veteran attorneys with extensive experience in professional sports litigation as it continues to expand its engagements in this sector.

Based in ATB’s Santa Ana office, Mr. Pang has been with the firm nearly 10 years and has increasingly assumed leadership responsibilities for its work on behalf of professional sports teams.  He has a J.D. from the University of California at Davis, King Hall School of Law and a B.A. degree in History from the University of California, Berkeley.

Along with Mr. Pang, the attorneys comprising ATB’s Sports Law Practice Group are:  Brian Beltran, Max Breall, Kurtis Ebbing, Michael Misa, Jamiyl Shabrami, Josh Mauras, and Jeff Adelson in California; Gerald Davino in Connecticut; David Gold and Sal Richardson in Florida; Michael Brennan in Illinois, and Rubina Khaleel in Nebraska.

Several of ATB’s attorneys have more than a decade of experience in defending professional athlete workers’ compensation claims.  In addition to their recognized expertise in litigation, defense, consultation, and resolution, they have also collaborated directly with the management of various professional sports teams and leagues to propose and develop programs outside litigation to reduce risk.

“Rarely a day goes by without one of our attorneys appearing on behalf of a professional sports client before a judge, at a hearing, or taking the deposition of a former athlete,” said Mr. Pang.  “We look forward to leveraging ATB’s vast expertise in workers’ compensation and sports injury litigation to help our growing number of clients among professional sports teams and leagues address the complex and often costly challenges associated with these matters.”
